QUARANTINE EXEMPTION OUTLINE

Welcoming news about S Korea quarantine exemption was officially published on 16th March in local Korean time. According to the announcement, “properly vaccinated people” are subject to exemption applications.

For those having vaccination records registered in the Korean QOOV system are entitled for this exemption program 10 days earlier than others, which begins on 21st March, 2022.

Following that, other vaccination certifications (officially) issued by foreign countries can be used for the exemption application from 1st April, 2022.

Unfortunately, people arriving from 4 high-risk countries - Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Myanmar - are yet required to quarantine continuously regardless of vax status.

PROPER VAX?

1. All vaxed people who got BOOSTER SHOT of any WHO proved vaccine

2. Cases of ONLY TWO DOSE TAKERS(+ Jonson&Jonson SINGLE DOSE TAKERS), exemption program is available only when the last vax has been over 14 days, but not over 180 days yet.

APPLYING QUARANTINE EXEMPTION

Exemption assessment MUST be processed THROUGH “Q-CODE” website ahead of your departure.

Before your flight lands, go to Q-CODE website, and sign up with your passport/flight information.

At the end, you will be asked to upload digital copies of a PCR test result and an official vaccination certification.

Once permitted, a QR code*** will be given that you will use for getting through the quarantine booth with in ICN airport.

TRANSIT AVAILABILITY

Since 1st April, public transportation is widely open for all entrants with a quarantine exemption QR code. To describe it more, metro, bus and train to get to your place are available.

TWO CONDITIONS

Even though the nation removed inconvenience of quarantine almost. TWO TIMES of COVID-19 tests are mandatory.

First, you are still required to take the 1st day post-arrival PCR test near your place, and to wait until NEGATIVE result comes out.

Additionally, in 6~7 days after your entry, you need to take one of Antigen test or PCR test. Self-antigen test results are acceptable, while you can buy the test kit in a local pharmacy or convenience store.
